Tal Kalman
Saxophonist and Composer
Tal Kalman is a saxophonist, woodwind double, and composer based in New York City. After graduating with honors from the Thelma Yellin National High School of the Arts, he was selected to participate in the prestigious Brubeck Institute Fellowship program, becoming the first non-American to achieve this honor. In 2022, Kalman earned his honors Bachelors of music degree in Jazz Studies from the University of the Pacific. He subsequently received his Master’s degree in Jazz Performance from the Manhattan School of Music in 2024, where he was awarded the Jazz Department Award. Throughout his early career, Kalman has garnered numerous accolades and recognitions, including the DownBeat Award for Best Soloist and the DownBeat Award for Best Arrangement. He has performed on renowned stages globally, such as the Elbphilharmonie in Hamburg, Bunkamura Orchard Hall in Tokyo, Dizzy’s Club in New York, Théâtre du Gymnase Marie Bell in Paris, the Rex in Toronto, the Monterey Jazz Festival in California, and the Red Sea Jazz Festival in Eilat, among others. In 2019, Kalman released his debut album, “Even Odds.” Currently, he performs regularly with his quartet on various stages throughout the city.
